About High Caliber Carpentry

Welcome! We’re glad you’re here.

Why “High Caliber”? In the United States Marine Corps, we would label a Marine “High Caliber” on an award when they were a true “fire and forget” performer — someone you could give direction to and they would execute with maximum initiative, drive, purpose, competency, and confidence.

That’s exactly the standard I wanted to bring into my business. At High Caliber Carpentry, we carry those same traits forward — helping homeowners confidently move through projects that often feel overwhelming, while delivering skilled, dependable results.

We specialize in quality trim work, staircase construction and replacement, door and window replacement, rot repair, and thoughtful home remodeling. If you don’t see exactly what you need, send us a message. Most of the time we can help — and if we can’t, we’ll gladly point you in the right direction.

A little about my background:

My carpentry journey began in Yuma, Arizona on the Marine Corps base. While serving as a USMC leader, I built a homemade lathe in our carport (pictured above) to create a special parting gift for a fellow Marine. That project sparked something lasting — the satisfaction of making something both functional and meaningful for someone else.

I’ve always been drawn to building and fixing things. As a kid, I drove my dad crazy hammering nails into doors to hang hats. If I saw something broken, I wanted to repair it. The Marine Corps strengthened my love for initiative and attention to detail — qualities I now bring to every project.

Our Approach

We believe carpentry is both an art and a science. Every home and every client is unique, so we focus on delivering results that are:

  • Functional – Built to last and perform well

  • Aesthetic – Clean, precise, and beautiful

  • Well-communicated – Clear updates and honest guidance from start to finish

We are very selective about the projects and clients we take on. Our goal is to build long-term relationships with homeowners who value quality craftsmanship and appreciate supporting a local, veteran-owned business.

Giving Back

Every other year during Yadkin County’s “Impact Yadkin” ministry, we donate roughly $5,000 in labor, materials, and tool rentals. We also quietly support other small projects that improve safety and living conditions in our community. When you choose High Caliber Carpentry, you’re helping us continue that work.

Thanks for stopping by. We’d love to hear about your project and see if we’re a good fit to work together.

Make yourself at home,

Richard
